The M-65 field jacket included a liner for protection against extreme weather conditions. Quilting the padded fabric has remarkably enhanced heat-tension, and made it lighter weight compared to the alpaca and wool lining originally used.
To prevent the padding from slipping, a wave stitch is used, plus a button hole at the collar and button at the sleeve to attach inside the field jacket.
The usual M-65 liner is used exclusively for fly front jacket liners and impossible to be worn on its own, but this was made possible through modification of adding a zipper.
